Classic cars rarely disappoint, and that is why consumers love to experience the unique excitement of the classic car auction scene.

When you factor in a vehicle as sophisticated and appealing as the 1965 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage as well, the excitement ascends to a whole new level.

For a final sale rate of 60%, the auctioneer at Brooklands recently sold 61 out of its 102 vehicles, including custom cars, commercial classics and more familiar classic vehicles.

The top seller at the auction was an exclusive 1965 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage. The car was number 52 of 1,567 which were built and one of just 268 right hand drive models. These special features encouraged a number of bidders, eventually taking the final sale price beyond the estimate (£120,000 - £140,000) to £155,000.

Sold at a hammer price of £27,500, a classic 1970 Alfa Romeo GTAm Evocazione was also sold over its estimate price. It was one of three Alfa Romeos sold in the auction.

Other Italian classics that seduced bidders included a 1954 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT (achieving £56,000) and a 1938 Lancia Aprilia, which was sold at £21,500.

Further sales included a 1965 Ford Thames 400E Van sold for £7,500 and a classic commercial 1936 Leyland Beaver Petrol Tanker sold for £13,000.

Historics Auction Director, Edward Bridger-Stille, thanked Mercedes-Benz World for allowing them to use "their fabulous venue to showcase yet another fascinating array of motor vehicles."

"Our desire to create a truly inclusive auction experience was again reflected in the staggering number of people in attendance on Saturday, and a £1+ million sale is testament to our continued commitment to bring a real breadth of cars to market," he added.
