Volkswagen have given their Passat CC a thorough mid-life facelift and dropped the P-word from the boot-lid. The new CC is a four-door saloon designed to fit in the VW range between the more downmarket Passat and the premium Phaeton.

The Passat CC features a number of exterior styling revisions, a good range of standard kit and a strong range of engines, including three petrols and a diesel. The top-of-the-line CC also gets VW's superb 3.6-litre VR6 engine.
It's not a whole lot different from the old Passat CC. This means that it's good to look at, comfortable, refined and practical.
Background
The Passat CC was launched in 2008 at the North American International Motor Show in Detroit and was based upon the fifth generation Passat. The new facelifted CC was unveiled at the 2011 L.A. Motor Show and went into production in early 2012.
Summary
The CC is a fine car. Not only does it look great and drive well, it's also very refined and comfortable. Some may be put off by the mainstream badge, though.
