The Bipper Tepee is a decent family car that offers bags of practicality and low running costs. However, it's not exactly cheap, it's poorly equipped and it's hardly what you'd call desirable.

PROS:  Practical, economical, refined

CONS:  Pricey, ugly, poorly equipped

Behind the Wheel

The Bipper Tepee's 1.3-litre diesel engine produces a fairly woeful 75bhp and 140lb-ft of torque. This translates into a yawn-inducing 16.8 seconds and a top speed of 99mph. If you enjoy driving, you're not going to enjoy this.

Having said all this, it's not actually that bad to drive thanks to direct steering. It rolls about a lot through the corners but the ride is surprisingly composed.

Looks & Equipment

The Bipper Tepee looks like a van; desirability is not one of its strong points. The cabin feels well put together but the plastics look and feel very cheap indeed.

You don't even get the benefit of a good amount of standard equipment. You get air-con, electric front windows and a CD player. That's it. Bluetooth can be specified for an extra £210, as can rear parking sensors but alloy wheels, cruise control, leather seats, MP3 connectivity and sat-nav are all unavailable.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The Bipper Tepee comes with driver, passenger and front side airbags which should make it relatively safe.

Reliability is not exactly Peugeot's strong point but the Bipper Tepee feels well built and comes with a fairly standard 3 year/60,000 mile warranty.

Practicality, however, is where the Bipper Tepee really comes into its own. There is bags of space for five people with plenty of head and legroom in all of the seats. The boot is also massive, offering 356-litres of boot space with the rear seats up and 884-litres with the rear seats folded flat.

Value for Money

At £13,245, the Bipper Tepee Outdoor 1.3 HDi 75 Stop-Start 5dr is relatively reasonably priced although there are cheaper alternatives around. Running cocts will be very low indeed thanks to a combined 65.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 119g/km which mean the Bipper Tepee falls under VED band C. Group 5 insurance is also very cheap for a car of this size.
