PROS: The Juke is a funky-looking car. This version comes with a good engine and is also provided with a very good level of trim.
CONS: This version is pricey, and the ride isn't the best available. Interior space is at a premium.
The Juke 1.6 DiG-T Tekna offers a very comfortable ride, however the downside to this is plenty of body-roll under cornering. The steering is quick, if a little vague, but front end grip isn't as good as it could be. The high ride height makes for excellent forward visibility, but the view to the back is poor, and some drivers will suffer because the steering wheel isn't adjustable for reach.
The 1.6-litre petrol is the pick of the range, and the acceleration is very good - 62mph arrives in 8.0 seconds. The top speed of 134mph is also very good, but it is worth noting that there is plenty of road noise, especially when driving at speed.
The Juke 1.6 DiG-T Tekna is certainly a very distinctive looking car, with the giant grille and inset lights at the front end giving the car a very interesting look. The bulging back end is also very unique, and the curved tail light clusters are attractive, but also eat in to the size of the boot lid. Inside, the dashboard is a bit dull but everything is well laid out and intuitive.
The Tekna level of trim offers plenty of luxuries, and the Juke 1.6 DiG-T Tekna is equipped with everything you could reasonably expect from a car of this type. Satellite navigation, leather upholstery, alloy wheels, cruise control, climate control, CD player with MP3 connectivity and Bluetooth all come as standard. Nissan will charge you £339 for an alarm, which is a bit stingy, but you'd be wise to select it. Metallic paint will cost you £455.
The Juke 1.6 DiG-T Tekna is equipped with a good range of airbags, and is offered with traction control and stability control as standard. The Juke was awarded five stars in the Euro NCAP safety tests.
Although this car is larger than many hatchbacks, the Juke still isn't a huge car, and space in the back seats is compromised by the sloping roofline. The boot space is mediocre for a car of this size - even a standard Focus offers more cargo space.
Nissan makes some very reliable cars, and there is little doubt that the Juke 1.6 DiG-T Tekna too will be very trustworthy.
The Juke 1.6 DiG-T Tekna is very pricey at £18,095. It is the second most expensive car in the Juke range but does come with plenty of equipment. However, when you consider that £18,095 will only buy a mid-range VW Golf, it could be argued that the Juke 1.6 DiG-T Tekna provides a good deal of car for the money.
The Juke 1.6 DiG-T Tekna shouldn't be all that cheap to run either, with a mediocre fuel economy figure of 40.9mpg. Group 20 insurance is also high for a car of this type but, on the plus side, resale values should be very strong. The Juke is supplied with a three year unlimited mileage warranty, and it also has three years' RAC membership.
