Mercedes-Benz SLK Overview

The Mercedes SLK is not the most spacious car on the market. It provides adequate passenger space but will not be suitable for a family. The boot, however, is bigger than might be expected and very practical, complementing the other various storage compartments located in the cabin.

The Mercedes SLK interior is comprised of quality plastics and leather, giving the cabin a luxury feel to it, with the option of red leather seats.

Background

The Mercedes SLK was produced in its first generation from 1996. It featured a folding steel hard top roof that could be controlled with the touch of a button on the centre console.

The model received a facelift in 2000 and sported new front and rear bumpers and new wing mirrors. The engine range was broadened and the 3.2 litre V6 enabled the car to top out at over 150mph.

The second generation SLK, which was introduced in 2004, was equipped a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission. The SLK 55 AMG, which sported a 5.4 litre V8 engine, could accelerate from 0 – 60mph in under 5 seconds. The second generation was updated in 2007 and received a revised exterior in addition to offering improved fuel economy.

The Mercedes SLK has been in its third generation since 2011. It features an upgraded engine and is quicker than its predecessor.

Summary

The Mercedes SLK is a perfect combination of style, speed and elegance. This two-seater sports car will not work as a family car, but delivers a fun and enjoyable driving experience.
