Lexus GS Car Reviews

The Lexus GS is an executive, 4-door saloon and one of the company's longest serving models. It is just as competent as many of its rivals and represents better value for money. It possesses excellent style and class with an impressive exterior. The GS is a rear wheel drive and delivers a smooth and silent ride making for an incredibly enjoyable driving experience. The car is equipped well as standard and is more practical in terms of space and comfort than some of its competitors.

Lexus GS Overview

There is plenty of passenger space in the front and back of the vehicle with a decent sized boot. Moreover, the adjustable seats coupled with the quiet drive provided by the GS make for a decent family car.

The latest model features an 8-speed automatic transmission and a top speed of 155mph.  The GS is a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, and has a lot to offer drivers.

Background

The GS was first introduced in 1991 with a range of engines and a 4-speed automatic transmission. In 1993 production of the revised GS 300 began, which featured a walnut wood trim and optional extras such as a 12-CD auto changer

The second generation of the GS was released in 1997. The exterior received a few tweaks with quadruple headlights and the model sported an upgraded stereo system. In addition the second generation had faster acceleration times and a 5-speed automatic transmission.

The car was given a facelift in 2000 with several exterior changes and more wood trim. It also featured steering wheel shift buttons.

In 2005 the third generation of the Lexus GS was introduced with a range of improvements including many more standard safety features. The model was updated in 2007 sporting a 4.6 litre V8 engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission propelling it from 0 – 60mph in 5.4 seconds.

A fourth generation of the GS is planned for a 2012 release.
