Unfortunately the performance credentials do not match the car's appearance and this makes this model a bit of a disappointment. That being said, those looking for an attractive car on a budget could do a lot worse and this model also benefits from low running costs.

The 1.6-litre diesel engine offers a decent power output of 113 bhp at 4000 rpm, propelling the car to a fairly impressive top speed of 117 mph. The suspension on the pro_cee’d is good, managing to cushion bumps and imperfections on poorly maintained roads. However, it lacks the firmness needed to prevent body roll through the corners and this affects the overall quality of the handling.
Overall, the ride is fairly comfortable, with even long periods of motorway driving not causing any problems or discomfort. With a comfortable cabin and a great chassis, this model is a decent family car but lacks the sporty power suggested in its appearance.
The pro_cee'd 3 1.6 is aggressively styled and is fitted with alloy wheels as standard. There is also a rear spoiler which helps to enliven the car's looks.
From the outside this car looks amazing making the budget price tag seem great value for money. Unfortunately, the interior does not follow suit and has a distinctively cheap feel. White dials with faux chrome accents attempt to add to the sporty feel but just look cheap and tacky.
Kit wise you get air-conditioning, alarm, immobiliser, trip computer, tinted glass, front fog lights, remote central locking, MP3 connection and a CD player, alloy wheels, climate control, cruise control, cloth and leather seats and a sports pack featuring chrome grille and stylish pedals.
As a three door option, practicality in this model is marginally compromised in comparison to five door Kias. Despite this, there is plenty of room in the cabin and even taller travellers can sit comfortably in the back of the car.
The boot holds 340 litres which is plenty of room for the average family. Those with larger requirements can take advantage of an impressive 1,210 litres of space by folding the seats down. Unfortunately the profile of this car, whilst attractive, obscures rear visibility and this means parking can prove a challenge.
The pro_cee’d is based on the designs of the original cee’d as well as on the Hyundai i30. Both of these cars are reliable and well built and the pro_cee’d continues that trend. The model looks and feels very well put together and the seven year warranty on offer will put minds at rest.
You get all-round disc brakes, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and six airbags fitted as standard to enhance safety.
The pro_cee’d offers relatively high fuel efficiency, achieving 62.8 mpg on the combined cycle. This is combined with low carbon emissions of 119g/km which puts the car into a low road tax band (C) and makes it cheap to keep on the road.
The pro_cee'd is also cheap to buy with a fairly low purchase price of £17,195. Residual values are likely to be poor but the Kia offers a lot of car for the money.
