A wide range of engines are available with the fastest – the 1.6 litre EcoBoost – giving the car a top speed of 127mph. High mileage drivers should choose the diesel option, as it performs best in terms of fuel economy.


The interior is of a very high quality, with a good level of standard equipment including a rear view camera, HD radio and a satellite navigation system amongst other technological innovations. The C-Max is equipped with comfortable seats, while head and legroom is plentiful throughout the cabin. Boot space is also very favourable.


The C-Max represents good value for money and makes an excellent family car.

Background

The Ford C-Max was produced in its first generation between 2003 and 2010.


It was built with a spacious interior and a large boot, with the option of folding the rear seats flat for extra storage. Transmissions available were 5-speed or 6-speed manual or 4-speed or 6-speed automatic.


The model was given a facelift in 2006, sporting a modified exterior with larger wheel arches and angular headlights.


The second generation Ford C-Max has been in production since 2010. As well as improved aerodynamics, the current model is equipped with a much greater level of technology.


A plug-in hybrid version of the C-Max is scheduled for a 2013 release in Europe.
