The DS3 is the smallest of a new line of DS models on offer by Citroen. It is a small family hatchback based on the C3, but has an emphasis on style and personality. It also has a more sporty appeal than the standard C3, and this can be seen by the engine options available, either a 1.4 litre or two 1.6 litre petrol units, or a choice of two 1.6 litre turbodiesels. The most powerful of these is the turbocharged 1.6 litre petrol THP model, which churns out 154bhp. The THP model can reach 62mph in just 7.3 seconds and is excellent for nipping in and out of traffic on busy streets. The 90bhp diesel option is the most economical, and can achieve 76mpg combined.

Citroen DS3 Overview
Although based on the C3, the DS3 is much better through the corners, and does not suffer from the same body roll that the C3 experiences after swift changes of direction. This will be due, in part, to the firmer suspension, but the DS3 still copes well with soaking up bumps in the road surface, and provides a comfortable ride.
Room inside the DS3 is relatively generous given its size. There is ample headroom and, as with the C3, legroom in the back is only really restricted with very tall front passengers. In addition to the decent space inside, the boot is also of a good size, among the class leaders at 285 litres. One downside is that it is only available as a 3-door, which can make getting in and out of the back a little tricky.
The interior of the DS3 is largely similar to the C3, although that’s no bad thing; given the quality and attractive layout the C3 now sports. There is also the ability to significantly customise the interior in the DS3, with options on the colour of the fascia, gearknob, seat fabrics etc. Some people however, will feel that the cabin of the more premium DS3 should be distanced from the standard C3.
Background
The DS3 is the first in the DS range from Citroen. It was heavily influenced by the DS Inside concept car that first appeared at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. The DS3 went into production in the same year and was awarded Top Gear magazine’s Car of the Year in 2010.A DS3 Racing model was revealed in 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show, and went into production the following year.
