Citroen C6 Car Reviews

The C6 is a premium large family car that is focused on luxury and comfort. There is only one engine available in the C6, a 3.0 litre V6 diesel unit, which comes with a six-speed automatic gearbox. It provides both decent performance and economy, which is surprising given its size. It is also a smooth quiet engine which barley intrudes into the cabin, and wind noise is also kept to a minimum by laminated, double glazed windows. Since the cars main focus is comfort, there is an element of body roll through corners.

Citroen C6 Overview

There are acres of space in both the front and rear, which means legroom is never a worry. However, due to the sloping roofline headroom is slightly limited in the back, although this will only concern very tall passengers. A lounge pack can also be specified which adds two electronically adjustable rear seats which can slide back and forth, and recline. Although interior space is generous, the same cannot be said for the boot. At 488 litres it is large for most cars, but given the overall size of the C6 it can be considered a little small, and it falls some way short of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6.

Behind the wheel there is a vast array of adjustment to both the driver’s seat and steering wheel, which makes getting comfortable easy. The support seats ensure the driver remains comfortable, even on long journeys, as does the hydropneumatic suspension system which enables the car to glide over any bumps. The interior is of a good quality, and although it does take some components from the C5 it maintains an upmarket ambiance. Standard kit is generous, although that is to be expected given the price tag of the car.

Background

The C6 has been around since 2005, although production was planned to commence much earlier. It was inspired by the C6 Lignage concept car which first appeared in 1999, and was recognised as the replacement for the Citroen XM which ceased production in 2000.

Summary

The C6 is a premium large family car that aims to compete in a market dominated by the likes of Audi and BMW, unfortunately the Citroen badge doesn’t come with the same level of prestige that rivals do.
