Citroen C4 Picasso Car Reviews

The C4 Picasso is a 5-seater MPV based on the C4. It is clearly aimed at families, given its spacious interior and excellent versatility. There is a wide choice of engines available, two 1.6 litre petrol units and three diesels (two 1.6 litre units and a 2.0 litre). The standard 1.6 litre diesel combines performance and efficiency well, giving around 50 mpg combined. Engine noise is minimal across the range, and wind noise is very low, especially when the optional laminated side windows are chosen.

Citroen C4 Picasso Overview

Inside is where the C4 Picasso is really impressive. There is enough room for five adults to fit comfortably with enough space in the 500 litre boot for their luggage. Adjustment in the front is excellent with the ability to tweak the positioning of both the seat and steering wheel. However, the adjustment doesn’t stop in the front, the position of each seat in the rear can also be changed individually, with the ability to slide back and forth, as well as recline. The rear seats can also be folded flat to create an even load space when larger items need to be transported.

The interior design of the C4 Picasso is a step away from the norm with a fixed central steering wheel hub, as was on the previous C4, on which buttons sit for most of the major functions. The instruments sit centrally rather than behind the wheel which is also a little unconventional. These features do however lead to an uncluttered dash which is both easy to use and looks stylish. It is also a bright cabin to be in with the vast expanses of glass due to the panoramic wrap-around windscreen fitted as standard, which helps to give excellent visibility. There is also a huge sunroof which lets in a significant amount of light, making the C4 a pleasant place to be.

Background

The C4 Picasso is the successor to the Citroen Xsara Picasso, although the two were sold simultaneously for a number of years until 2010. The C4 Picasso was first revealed at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show, following the unveiling of the Grand C4 Picasso in the previous year. It shares a platform with both the C4 and the Peugeot 307.

Summary

The C4 Picasso is a family orientated practical car, and the individually adjustable and folding rear seats make it highly versatile. It was awarded the Euro NCAP 5 Star safety rating in 2009.
