You probably haven't heard of Zenos Cars, the new upstart sports car brand co-founded by ex-Caterham boss Ansar Ali; however, it's a name you'll be hearing a lot more of over the next few years.
Ali is the man famous for reviving the Caterham brand and was at the centre of the brand's transformation from a small, rather parochial British sports car company into a successful global brand with two cars on the Formula One grid.
Now, however, Ali is going it alone and, along with Mark Edwards, former COO of Caterham Cars, he's attempting to launch an all-new sports car brand. The plan is to launch three new high-performance racers onto the market by 2018, the first of which, the E10, is the car you see teased in these official development sketches.
So, let's take a closer look at the E10. Around the same size as a Lotus Elise, the E10 is based on an innovative new aluminium architecture which uses a single 'backbone' to provide torsional rigidity while keeping the weight low. Attached to this central spine will be a tub made from recycled carbon-fibre composites.
The E10 will be fitted with a mid-mounted Ford 2.0-litre Ford engine developing 197bhp and 155lb-ft of torque. The power will be sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
With a planned kerb weight of 650kg and a resulting power-to-weight ratio of more than 300bhp per tonne, Zenos claims that the E10 should be capable of 0-60mph in around 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 135mph.
That's pretty much all we know for now; however, with a claimed on-sale date of 2014, we're expecting Zenos to release some more information on the E10 fairly swiftly.
