Toyota is recalling more than 885,000 vehicles worldwide over a potential problem concerning the cars' air conditioning, which could lead to problems with the airbags.

British buyers will not be affected by the recall as the cars in question -- the Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid and Venza -- are not sold in the UK market. The recall will not, however, do Toyota's image any good, especially considering the manufacturer's recent recall in the US of RAV4 and Lexus HS Hybrid models over a suspension problem and the UK recall of Yaris and Verso models over a power steering problem earlier this year.

The fault concerns water collecting at the bottom of the air-conditioning condenser unit which could then leak onto the adjacent airbag control module. This can result in the airbag warning light coming on and could lead to the airbags being inadvertently deployed or disabled.

Toyota claims that the fault has caused two minor injuries; however, no crashes have been attributed to the malfunction.
