Skoda are celebrating after the brand hit the 20 million vehicle milestone.

The 20-millionth Skoda produced is a Karoq, the brand’s latest offering which goes on sale from the end of next month. The milestone model rolled off the production line at Kvasiny in the Czech Republic this week.

Skoda production has risen dramatically in recent years to meet increased demand. Skoda production began in 1905, and only reached the 5 million mark in 1991, the year the brand became part of the Volkswagen Group. Since joining the Volkswagen Group Skoda has expanded production to include 15 plants in eight countries, and in 2014 it produced more than a million vehicles in a single calendar year for the first time ever.

Skoda aims to continue its recent global popularity by embracing electric power, and will include five pure electric models in its line up by 2025.
