There are the first official photos of the Renault Captur, a new mini-SUV based on the Clio which Renault hopes will steal sales from the Nissan Juke and the Peugeot 2008.
The Captur was first seen in concept form at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, and it's at this year's Geneva show that the production-ready model will be revealed.
Based on Renault-Nissan's 'B' platform, which is also used by the Clio and the Nissan Juke, the Captur will be offered with the same range of engines as the Clio. Renault claims that the Captur will offer best-in-class CO2 emissions, with the least polluting models emitting just 96g/km of CO2.
On the outside, it's easy to see where the Captur takes its styling influences from; the massive Renault badges and swept-back, sculpted headlights are pure Clio. On the inside, Renault promises an MPV-like cabin, with a high driving position and plenty of space. In addition to this, all models get parking sensors, hill start assist and keyless entry as standard.
Renault has yet to reveal the pricing details for the new Captur, but it is expected to cost around £1,500 more than the Clio, with prices starting from around £13,000.
