Images of the new Range Rover Sport have appeared online ahead of the car's debut at the New York Motor Show later this month.
Now this is odd for two main reasons. The first is that JLR only released the first teaser image of the new Range Rover Sport a couple of days ago and normally when car manufacturers 'teases' a new car, they wait ages to reveal the car properly -- we're looking at you Rolls-Royce. The second reason is that when most manufacturers reveal their new models, the photos aren't normally hastily-snapped iPhone pics depicting the car in a manky backstreet garage.
According to Pistonheads, the images show a pre-production prototype of the new RR Sport which was being given a makeover by a window-tinting company prior to being featured in a TV advert. An employee (now, ex-employee, we would imagine) of said tinting company uploaded the images to a public internet forum and voila! One meticulously-planned and ludicrously-expensive JLR PR campaign ruined.
Whether or not we believe this version of events we're not quite sure. The whole thing could have been orchestrated by JLR in an attempt to drum up publicity for the new model.
Either way, the new Range Rover Sport is a handsome-looking devil, and the hugely-popular Evoque has clearly had an influence on the new car's styling.
The Sport will be offered with a choice of a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine and two diesels -- a 4.4-litre V8 and a 3.0-litre V6. The smaller of the two oil-burners is likely to make up the bulk of UK sales.
