When the worlds of fashion and cars collide, the results can be either disastrous or really quite good.

On the one hand, noted fashion designer Ralph Lauren has proved that the fashion and cars do mix by assembling one of the most amazing car collections in the known universe. But on the other hand, when US fashion designer Jeremy Scott was given carte blanche to design his own smart car, the resulting car, the Forjeremy, made us want to extract our own eyes with a hammer drill.

Now, however, it's Mercedes' turn to jump on the fashion bandwagon with this, the new CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake by Spencer Hart.

If you haven't heard of Spencer Hart -- and let's face it, why would you have? -- it's a luxury menswear brand. And it's the company's creative director, Nick Hart, who has helped Mercedes design the new car.

So, what's different about the Spencer Hart CLS 63? Well firstly it gets a brand new colour not available on any other car, 'Nick Hart Midnight Blue,' and while the normal car gets a smattering of chrome, the Spencer Hart gets 'subtle, dark, understated finishes'.

On the inside, the Spencer Hart's interior is inspired by the fashion designer's flagship store in Brook Street, London, otherwise known as 'The Vault'. Having never been inside the store we can't comment of the verisimilitude of the Merc's interior, but we can tell you that it gets brown Italian leather seats with contrasting 'Midnight Blue' stitching and Spender Hart logos on the headrests. Nick Hart's signature also appears on the centre console.

Underneath the CLS 63 is mechanically unchanged, so you get the same 549bhp twin-turbo V8 fitted to the standard car. This means 0-62mph takes 4.2 seconds and flat out an electronically-limited 155mph is on the cards.

Hart said: "It seemed a natural fit to work on a car project with Mercedes-Benz. I have always been a fan of the brand and creating something that was uniquely Spencer Hart and ultimately cool as opposed to commercial, has resulted in something that both Spencer Hart and Mercedes-Benz are proud of."

Mercedes has confirmed that the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake by Spencer Hart will be available for UK customers to order; however, it is unclear how much of a price premium the car will carry over the standard £81,905 model.
