As you're probably aware, the American-based tuning company Hennessey Performance is known for producing some very powerful cars indeed.
From the 242mph Cadillac CTS-V, through to the 1244bhp Venom GT supercar, their 704bhp version of the McLaren 12C and their 738bhp version of the Ferrari 458, Hennessey really isn't afraid of extracting huge amounts of horsepower from its cars.
And now, clearly dissatisfied with the measly 640bhp produced by the new 2013 SRT Viper, Hennessey has taken a standard Viper and turned it into this: the Venom 700R.
What Hennessey has done is take the standard 8.4-litre V10 from the Viper and add new high-flow cylinder heads, a new air filter and a re-engineered exhaust. The upshot of this is that the 700R produces 705bhp and 695lb-ft of torque -- 65bhp and 95lb-ft more than the standard car.
As you'd expect, performance is somewhat brisk. 0-62mph arrives in just 3.1 seconds and flat out you'll be going a bowel-loosening 216mph. Hennessey also claims the car will complete a standing quarter-mile in 10.7 seconds at a top speed of 134mph.
