This is the Citroen DS 6WR, the first SUV to come from Citroen's premium DS brand, which will make its world debut at the Beijing Motor Show later this week.
The launch of the DS 6WR coincides with company boss Carlos Tavares' announcement that the DS brand will be distanced from Citroen in order to establish a more upmarket marque as part of the company's streamlining operations.
At 4.55m long, 1.86m wide and 1.61m tall, the DS 6WR is around the same size as a Land Rover Freelander, and will compete against the likes of the Freelander and the BMW X3.
Designed in Paris, the new DS 6WR features the DS brand's new 'front end identity'. This includes a new grille design, called 'DS Wings', which features two chrome-finished wings which connect to the headlamps, xenon headlights and LED daytime-running lights. 19-inch alloy wheels, sculpted rear wings and more chrome trim help to liven up the car's profile.
The car's design is inspired by the Citroen Wild Rubis concept, from which the DS 6WR takes its name, which was unveiled last year.
Two engines will be on offer: two 1.6-litre petrol turbo four-cylinder units developing 160bhp and 200bhp, both of which will be fitted to a six-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
And while the DS 6WR will be available in front-wheel drive only, Citroen has fitted the car with what it calls 'Grip Control, which provides "optimised traction on all types of terrain -- without the need for a four-wheel drive system."
The DS 6WR will go on sale in China by the end of the year; however, there are no plans as yet to market the car in the UK?
