There's a bit of an argument brewing over how old the Chevrolet Corvette actually is.
On the one side, Chevy are claiming that the Corvette was born in the summer of '52, making it sixty years old this year. However, people with beards, and oil under their fingernails, will tell you that the 'Vette was unveiled at the General Motors Motorama in New York in January 1953. Indeed, Chevrolet themselves celebrated the Corvette's golden anniversary in 2003.
Americans eh?
Well, however old the 'Vette is, Chevrolet are making a big noise about the car's 59th/60th [delete as applicable] birthday and are going to great lengths to emphasise the car's influence on popular music.
Chevy point out that the Corvette has appeared in a huge number of pop song lyrics over the years, and have put together a ten song playlist of songs which mention the Corvette or Chevrolet.
This may just be another typically pathetic automotive industry publicity stunt; however, there are some good tunes in the list, so we thought we'd reproduce it here for your delectation.
