BMW announces 'i' brand dealers | New Release - Car News May 2013

BMW has announced that its new i3 electric city car will be sold through a network of 46 dealers when it reaches the UK later this year.

The i3 will be the first model sold under BMW's new 'i' sub-brand and will be joined next year by the new plug-in hybrid i8 sports car, which will also be sold through the BMW dealer network.

The new i3 is BMW's first fully-electric production car and features an all-aluminium chassis and a passenger cell formed of carbon-fibre. BMW will offer the i3 in both fully-electric and range-extender hybrid form. BMW has yet to announce the price list of the new i3, but it is expected to cost in the region of £35,000.

BMW claims that interest in the new 'i' brand is high, with more than 6,000 people already having registered their interest. For those that want to see the new i3 in the flesh, the model is on display at the BMW i showroom on Park Lane, London.
