Audi admit 2.1 million Audi cars have the same emissions cheating software as Volkswagen.
It’s hardly a surprise, but the magnitude of the emissions scandal is growing every day. Today is no exception with anouncements from both Audi and Skoda bringing over 3 million cars into the picture.
Audi have revealed that 2.1 million of its cars contain the infamous 'defeat device', whilst Skoda suspect 1.2 million cars could be implicated in the scandal.
Today’s reports claim that the A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, TT, Q3 and Q5 are all affected as they are all fitted with Volkswagens EU5 engines. Meanwhile the R&D chiefs of both Audi and Porsche have both been suspended, which suggests Porsche will have some confessions to make over the next few days.
The scandal runs incredibly deep, and has put the industry as a whole under extreme scrutiny. Mercedes and BMW vehicles have also been found to burn up to 50% more petrol in real road tests than they were under test conditions, with the Mercedes A, C and E-Class models receiving specific mention.
Suspicions of the motor industry are reflected on the stock market with Volkswagen shares plummeting 38.5% since the scandal began.
