The new Audi A3 Cabriolet is available to order now, with prices starting from £25,790.
Launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the A3 Cabriolet is based on the new A3 Saloon but comes with a fabric roof stretched over a magnesium-steel frame which opens in under 18 seconds at speeds of up to 31mph. When retracted, the roof sits in a tray, maximising luggage capacity.
The roof itself is available in three colours -- black, grey and brown -- and with a choice of black or lunar silver roof liners. An active rollover protection system is also fitted to protect occupants in the event of a rollover crash.
Three trim levels will be available: SE, Sport and S line. Standard equipment on the base SE model includes a black roof, 16-inch alloys, air-conditioning, a radio with an 11mm thick folding screen, iPod connectivity, DAB radio, Bluetooth, an SD car slot for the sat-nav and automatic lights and wipers.
Sport and S line models also get a sound-absorbent acoustic roof and sit 15mm lower to the road than the SE. Both models get sports seats, active damping with five operating modes, dual-zone climate control and a high-res colour driver's information system. Sport models get 17-inch alloy wheels.
Features exclusive to the S line model include part-leather upholstery with S line logos, an S line sports steering wheel, 18-inch alloy wheels, S line body styling and xenon headlights with LED daytime-running lights.
There's a choice of three engines: a 138bhp 1.4-litre petrol, a 178bhp 1.8-litre petrol and a 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel. The 1.4-litre petrol manages 0-62mph in 9.1 seconds and achieves 56.5mpg with CO2 emissions of 114g/km.
The 1.8 gets from 0-62mph in 7.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 150mph, while the diesel will return 67.3mpg with CO2 emissions of 110g/km.
The first customer deliveries of the new A3 Cabriolet are expected in 2014.
