This V60 boasts excellent engine performance with quick acceleration and impressive handling. It is fairly fuel efficient but its CO2 emissions are higher than many other models in the range. It comes with a decent level of equipment and received a 5 star Euro NCAP rating.

PROS:  Some decent equipment included and the model has good fuel economy. Impressive engine performance.

CONS:  Higher emissions than others in the range. A little pricey.

Behind the Wheel

The Volvo V60 delivers a smooth and refined ride, with a quiet engine and minimal wind and road noise throughout. It handles well and glides through corners with good road grip and sharp steering, although could be a little more responsive. The model is an excellent motorway cruiser and absorbs bumps and road imperfections with consumate ease on the whole.

140mph is the top speed met by this vehicle, which is impressive for a car of this type. It takes a fast 7.7 seconds for this car to travel from 0mph to 62mph. The car’s power output is strong at 212bhp and the car's torque is powerful at 324 lb-ft.

Looks & Equipment

The V60 is a fairly attractive estate and its exterior is enhanced with the inclusion of standard alloy wheels. As a cost option, the model can be painted in metallic for £640.

The interior is well laid out and generally finished in attractive, high-quality materials. To enhance these aesthetics leather seating is available for £970.

Standard equipment includes climate control, cruise control, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth, CD player, MP3 connectivity, electric door mirrors and electric front windows.

Satellite navigation costs £525.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

This V60 has five doors and seats five occupants making it an ideal choice for a family car, as there is simple access in to the vehicle. The car has got relatively generous boot space, when the rear seats are upright there is 430 litres of free space, and when the rear seats are folded there is 1241 litres .

The safety has been well established as there is a driver airbag, passenger airbag as well as airbags in the front side area of the vehicle to maximise protection for the driver and passengers in the event of an accident. The model received a maximum 5 star Euro NCAP rating.

The car's warranty is standard; Volvo offer three years and up to 60,000 miles of cover.

In terms of security, the car is fitted with an alarm to give the car maximum security when it is unattended, and central locking.

Value for Money

The Volvo V60 D5 AWD SE Geartronic 5dr is a reliable family car which performs well and comes with a fairly good selection of equipment. Priced at £34,270, it is fairly expensive when looking at other models in the range.

The car produces 169g/km of CO2 emissions and runs on average at 44.1mpg. These figures aren't bad but some models lower down the range offer much more impressive economy for a cheaper purchase price.

The car is a strong performer but is beaten hands down by some rivals in terms of value for money.
