CarSite Verdict:  3.5/5
The top of the range Volkswagen Eos Exclusive 2.0 TSI is a great car to drive, with top build quality and the reliability of a VW with refinement to match.

If you are looking for an attractive convertible this could be a good choice. While it doesn’t offer the same fuel economy as the smaller diesel engines, the more advanced handling will satisfy drving enthusiasts.

PROS:  Striking good looks are a hallmark of the entire Eos range. Superb performance figures make this a great all-round option.

CONS:  Advertised to seat five adults, but in reality four is enough. The folding roof takes up a lot of boot space. The high insurance group will put off potential customers and it is an expensive car to buy.

Behind the Wheel

The 1984 cc 16-valve petrol engine produces 207 bhp at 5,300 rpm and 206 lb ft torque at 1700 rpm.

As a result of these impressive performance figures, the car can reach a top speed of 148 mph and goes from 0-62 mph in 7.8 seconds. This is a car for the motorist that likes their engines fast.

Moreover, refinement is good and the steering of the car is smooth and responsive.

Looks & Equipment

This is a good looking car and comes with plenty of kit.

Rear parking sensors , electric door mirrors and electric front windows are all as standard, but it does not come with satellite navigation unless you are willing to fork out £785 extra.

Cruise control is available for another £220.

It does come with Bluetooth and MP3 connectivity and is fitted with climate control as standard.

A set of 19 inch alloy wheels and leather seats as standard set this car off nicely.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The VW does seat five, but four will be far more comfortable. The boot holds 380 litres with the seats down.

Driver, passenger and side impact airbags are standard and the renowned Volkswagen built quality will ensure a safe and sturdy car. It is fitted with an immobiliser and alarm as standard for extra safety.

The car comes with the manufacturers’ standard two year or 60,000 mile warranty.

Value for Money

The Eos Exclusive costs £30,710 and is one of the more expensive cars in its class. However, it has great driveability and is fun to own. The engine is fairly efficient, with a reasonable 39.8 mpg rate, despite the high performance. The CO2 emissions average out at 165 g/km, which is not particularly good.

The Volkswagen Eos Exclusive 2.0 TSI boasts the same performance figures as the Eos Sport 2.0 TSI and a similar equipment package, but the Sport is much cheaper. Smaller diesel engines are more efficient too.
