The Nissan Juke 1.6 Acenta + Premium Pack 5dr offers decent fuel economy, stunning looks, a stylish interior and excellent specification. If you're looking for a well-priced compact crossover then the Juke should not disappoint.

PROS:  Funky looks, comfortable ride, well equipped

CONS:  Uninspiring performance, limited practicality

Behind the Wheel

The Juke’s 1.6 litre four-pot petrol engine produces 115 bhp and 116 lb-ft of torque. 0-62 mph takes 11.0 seconds and you'll be out of puff at 111mph. The engine in this model is probably the pick of the bunch and although the performance figures are hardly amazing, the naturally aspirated petrol engine is far less noisy than the unrefined turbo.

The Juke handles with plenty of feel and the steering feels direct. The ride is comfortable and there is very little body lean through the bends.

The rear visibility is poor and the steering wheel does not adjust for reach. There is very little wind noise although a fair amount of road noise is apparent at higher speeds.

Looks & Equipment

The Juke looks very modern and funky, however the dashboard is a little dull despite the motorcycle-inspired centre console.

Standard kit includes alloy wheels, air-conditioning, electric mirrors, electric front windows, CD player and MP3 connectivity, Bluetooth, climate control, cruise control and Nissan’s Dynamic Control System, which gives the option to tweak the steering and accelerator settings to be sporty or eco-friendly. The premium pack also offers a reversing camera and satellite navigation.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The Juke has impressive list of safety kit, including six airbags, electronic stability programme, anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist, and remote central locking with an anti-hijack feature.

The car comes with a three-year/60,000 mile warranty and Nissan have a reputation for making very reliable cars so reliability should not be an issue.

There’s plenty of space in the front, but the sloping roof-line limits headroom in the rear. The boot only offers 251-litres of space with the seats up and 830 litres with the seats are down.

Value for Money

The 1.6 Acenta + Premium Pack 5dr costs £15,495 which is relatively good value for money for a car of this size. However, the running costs, whilst still fairly low, fail to match up to the high standards set by the Juke's rivals. You should get 47.1mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of 139g/km put the Juke under VED band E.
