The Honda Civic was first produced in 1972, available as a 2-door coupe, a 3-door or 5-door hatchback and a 5-door estate. It came with an AM/FM radio, and air conditioning was available as a cost extra.
The second generation Civic debuted in 1980 with a redesigned exterior, and three available transmissions – 4-speed or 5-speed manual and 2-speed semi-automatic.
The Honda Civic was released in its third generation in 1984, which also saw the introduction of a 4-wheel drive engine. The fourth generation model, which came out in 1988, sported a redesigned exterior and was available with a much wider range of trims. The Civic became larger and more aerodynamic in its fifth generation (1992 – 1995).
The sixth generation model featured a restyled exterior and an upgraded engine range. The 2001-released seventh generation Civic received minor interior modifications and cabin space increased.
