The Citroen DS4 THP 155 EGS6 DStyle is a great car for motorists who want a stylish, high performance vehicle. Whilst you pay a premium for the style and performance, the DS4 is a great car nevertheless.

PROS:  Impressive performance credentials. Great looks. Good interior quality.

CONS:  Pricey for what it is and the running costs aren't cheap for a car of this size.

Behind the Wheel

The DS4's 1.6-litre engine produces 155 bhp at 6000 rpm and 177 lb-ft of torque. The high performance four cylinder engine delivers a top speed of 133 mph which is impressive for a car of this type as is the 0-62mph time of 9.9 seconds.

The ride is a little firm but the DS4 handles very well with sharp, accurate steering and an absence of body roll through the corners.

Looks & Equipment

The DS4 is a fabulous looking car and a much more desirable proposition than the slightly bland C4.

Central locking, power steering, stability control, alloy wheels, climate control, electric door mirrors, electric front windows, cruise control, rear parking sensors, an advanced stereo system with MP3 connectivity, a part-leather interior and Bluetooth connectivity are all fitted as standard.

A built-in sat nav system can be fitted for an additional £750 and the exterior can be upgraded to a metallic paint finish for £450.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The DS4 comfortably seats five providing the rear passengers aren't too tall. The front seats are adjustable and offer lumbar support, helping to give drivers the comfortable driving position they need. The part-leather upholstery helps to enhance the comfort levels and makes the car a pleasant place to be.

The model comes with driver, passenger and front side airbags all fitted as standard to offer high levels of safety whilst an immobiliser and alarm are also fitted to protect the car from thieves. Standard features such as stability control and cruise control help drivers to stay safe on the road and make driving easier and more comfortable.

The car also comes with a three year warranty at 60,000 miles and a service interval of 20,000 miles is recommended.

The boot is a good size with 359 litres on offer when the seats are in place and 1,021 litres on offer when the rear seats are folded down.

Value for Money

At £21,450 this model is far from cheap. The fuel efficiency of this model is poor compared to some family cars. The model achieves a mediocre 43.5 mpg which means that it is far from the most economical model on the market. Carbon emissions equal 149 g/km and put this model into road tax band F which is not particularly high but is not as good as the emissions offered by other cars in this price range.
