Van drivers from across the country will descend upon Bruntingthorpe Proving Grounds on Thursday 10th July in the hope of being crowned the nation’s best.

As part of the DRIVEit@ van event, the Freight Transport Association (FTA) has helped create the first ever Van Excellence Driver of the Year award.
Competition day will see van drivers do battle for honours in five areas, including a fuel economy run, driver behavioural feedback, risk awareness, pre-use defect checking and a knowledge test.
“Van drivers are an often maligned community, this first Van Excellence Van Driver of the Year event provides a perfect opportunity to recognise and celebrate some of the fantastic drivers we all share the roads with”, said Mark Cartwright, Head of Vans for the FTA.
The industry-led Van Excellence initiative open to operators of vans up to 3.5-tonnes, raising compliance standards and promoting those who represent the interests of the van industry.
Van Excellence accredited operators can enter a driver into the contest by emailing mcartwright@fta.co.uk, with partners ATS Euromaster, Hertz Van Rental, and TomTom on hand to offer expertise to contestants on the day.
