The BMW 320d has been named Green Car of the Year 2012 by What Car? magazine.

The What Car? Green Awards, which were held at the Imagination Gallery in London last night, acknowledge the greenest cars on the market today, taking into account emissions, reliability, driveability, and whole-life costs.

All models were also put through a 'True MPG' test, which provides a more accurate estimation of real-life MPG figures than the mandatory EU tests through which all cars are put.
