The Chevrolet Volt is likely to be in short supply, after the firm announced recently that supply of the vehicles is unlikely to be able to meet demand.
Chevrolet UK has announced that they expect orders of the new Volt car to exceed the supply of new cars for the foreseeable future. Managing Director Mark Terry has said that the firm has been contacted by 2,500 prospective customers, people "who said they want to talk to us about the Volt." Promising to do everything possible to meet demand for the Volt, he also said "We're fighting for production every month and the gates are opening."
The new Chevrolet Volt is due to go on sale in the UK this spring, with different specifications and pricing to the Vauxhall Ampera which uses the same technology. Mr Terry claimed that the company is encouraged by evidence that the famous American brand carries prestige for UK buyers, but admits that they are still fighting British perceptions that Chevrolet cars are 'US gas guzzlers'. He also claimed that UK buyers who are downsizing from premium brands are choosing Chevrolet over South Korean rivals Hyundai and Kia because "they want to go for a brand that says something."
