Total Accident Management have proudly reported an overall improvement of 29% in it its average vehicle off road (VOR) times between 2008 and 2011.

The average customer VOR time has reduced from 11.24 days in 2009 to 7.95 days in 2011, including weekends. The improvement is thought to be largely due to Total increasing the use of their repair solutions. The managing director of Total Accident management stated, "Speed and cost of repair are constantly under scrutiny by fleet operators, and we have been working hard to improve repair efficiency, helping fleet managers keep costs under control."

Fleet vehicles are generally benefitting from cheap hire costs as cars are back on the road faster with improved VOR times. Total can cleverly identify whether a vehicle needs to be sent to a body shop or for smart repair with its 'damage evaluator' process. This reduces overall costs and provides body shops with the structural jobs where the necessary equipment for the repair is located. Just one call to Total's customer service operation will then inform drivers of the best course of action to take, which is based on the severity and type of the vehicle’s damage.

Total will recommend one route out of a possible three options.

The damaged vehicle will be visited by a repair specialist to reduce the off-road times. However, parts for vehicles that have suffered extreme damage will need to be specially ordered.

The traditional body shop route is still favoured by most, with 71.38% still using this option and roughly 28.62% repairs performed with the mobile smart repair route.

Mobile smart repairs can cut down vehicle off-road times to zero in some cases. Through body shops, the vehicle is likely to be off the road for anywhere between three to seven days.
