All 1,927 individually-numbered First Edition examples of the all-new Volvo XC90 were sold within just two days of its launch last week, the manufacturer has revealed.

Available for sale via digital commerce only, the majority of the cars were reserved within an hour of the sales launch on Wednesday afternoon, with 55 of those models finding UK buyers.  Delivery to UK customers is expected in April next year.
“We are very pleased, but not really surprised,” said Alain Visser, Volvo’s Senior Vice President for Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service.
“The huge interest in the XC90 escalated to astronomical levels after the world-première last week.  The first buyers signed up for their favourite number in milliseconds. The rapid response confirms that the XC90 is a truly iconic car model. The First Edition will be a collector’s item in the future,”
The figure of 1,927 First Edition models was chosen in recognition of the year Volvo was founded, and each XC90 First Edition has its own uniquely numbered tread plates and tailgate badge. The model is finished in Onyx Black with 21-inch, 8-spoke alloys, while inside there are Amber nappa leather seats and a Charcoal leather dash with walnut inlays.  The XC90 First Edition features a table-inspired touch screen, and a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system with 1,400-watt amplifier. Powered by 225bhp twin-turbo diesel engine from Volvo’s new four-cylinder Drive-E range, the XC90 First Edition has an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The new Volvo XC90 First Edition also comes with the latest safety features, including a run-off road protection package, and auto brake systems.
