Volkswagen has confirmed the pricing and specification details for the new facelifted Scirocco, which made its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The new Scirocco, which features revised styling and a new range of advanced engines, is available to order now, with prices starting from £20,455.
On the outside, the new Scirocco keeps the same basic look as its predecessor; however, VW has modernised it with new head and tail lights, as well as new bumper styling. All Sciroccos now have LED tail lights, while the rear bumper has ben redesigned to look more purposeful.
The range-topping Scirocco R now also features bespoke bumpers and 19-inch ‘Cadiz’ alloy wheels. The rest of the range also benefits from improved alloy designs.
Under the bonnet, there are six new turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, all of which meet the new Euro 6 standard. All of the models in the range, barring the Scirocco R, feature BlueMotion technology with stop-start as standard, and as a result, the most frugal models in the range will return up to 68.9mpg.
The petrol line-up consists of a 123bhp 1.4-litre petrol, a new 177bhp 2.0-litre unit, a 217bhp 2.0-litre engine and, in the Scirocco R, a 276bhp 2.0-litre unit.
The diesel range consists of two engines, both 2.0-litre units with either 148bhp or 181bhp. All engines barring the 1.4 petrol come with a choice of six-speed manual and DSG gearboxes.
Four trim levels will be on offer: Scirocco, GT, R-Line and R, with all models coming with a touchscreen infotainment system, DAB radio, a six-disc CD changer, SD card reader, iPod, USB, Bluetooth and aux-in technology, air-con, automatic headlights and wipers, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, height-adjustable sports seats and a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel.
Prices for the entry-level Scirocco start from £20,455, while the GT costs from £22,305. Moving up the range, the R-Line is priced from £27,840, while the range-topping Scirocco R will set you back £32,295 for the manual and £33,795 for the DSG.
