Volkswagen have announced changes to the trim levels of four models in its Golf range.

As a result of the changes, customers now ordering a Volkswagen Golf GT, GTI, GTD, or R will now find that the cars come as standard with black 'Vienna' leather upholstery. This has previously been an optional extra costing £1,890 on these models. The heated driver and passenger front seats include electrically operated lumbar support, and the driver's seat is fully adjustable electronically. The GT, GTI, and GTD, feature sports seats, as does the R, although the latter's seats are more deeply bolstered to provide additional support. The R also has the option of Recaro seats at extra cost.

In addition to this, Bluetooth technology allowing users to access many of their mobile telephone's features via the Golf's in-car entertainment system or multifunction steering wheel, is now also being included as standard on the GTI, GTD, and R models. This was previously a £255 optional extra on the range, and although it remains so for GT buyers, it has been reduced to £140 for that model.

The prices for the Golfs with the updated trim levels are £21,310 for the GT, £24,635 for the GTD,  £25,305 for the GTI, and £31,420 for the R.
