Volkswagen has opened the order books for the five-door up!

Until now, the Skoda Citigo was the only product of the VW/SEAT/Skoda city car project offered as a five-door model.

The five-door up! costs £365 more than the equivalent three-door model, with prices starting from £8,360. Interior space is unchanged from the three-door model, with 947mm of headroom and 789mm of legroom for rear seat passengers.

The engine range also remains unchanged. There is just one engine on offer -- a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol, developing either 59bhp or 74bhp. A BlueMotion model will also be available, boasting tax-busting CO2 emissions of 95g/km.

The five-door up! is available in three levels of trim -- Take up!, Move up! and High up! -- and two special edition models will also be made available: up! Black and up! White.

An electric version of the up! will join the line-up late next year.

The first five-door up!s will be delivered to customers in August and the five-door model is expected to make up over half of all up! sales.
