Volkswagen has introduced two new models to its Beetle range, a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel.
How fast is the new VW Beetle?
The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol develops 197bhp and propels the car from 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 139mph. The diesel, on the other hand, develops 138bhp which is enough to power the Beetle to 62mph in 9.5 seconds and on to 123mph. Despite this, it will return a combined 57.6mpg and emit 129g/km of CO2.
Both models come fitted with a choice of a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox.
VW Beetle trim levels
While the diesel model is available in either mid-range Design or top-of-the-line Sport trim, the petrol model is available in either Sport trim or as a special-edition 'Turbo' model.
Design trim comes with 17-inch alloys, Bluetooth, front fog lights, an alarm, air-con, a leather steering wheel and body-coloured door and dash panels.
Sport trim adds 18-inch wheels, tinted glass, cruise control, sports seats, parking sensors, gloss black door mirrors, a gloss black dashboard and dual-zone climate control.
VW Beetle Turbo
The special edition Turbo model is available in two guises: Turbo Black and Turbo Silver. Standard features include 19-inch alloy wheels and Turbo decals, door mirrors and side rubbing strips in either black or silver, depending on the model.
How much does the new VW Beetle cost?
Prices for the new Beetle start at £16,600, but you'll have to spend £20,085 to get one of the new 2.0-litre models. The top-of-the-range Turbo model with the DSG gearbox will set you back £24,505.
