Volkswagen has confirmed the pricing details for the new Polo BlueGT.
The BlueGT will cost from £17,400 for the three-door model, and £18,020 for the five-door. Order books open today and the first customers will take delivery of their cars in December.
Volkswagen claims that the Polo BlueGT offers the performance of a petrol model and the fuel efficiency of a diesel.
The Polo BlueGT features a turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which develops 138bhp and 185lb-ft of torque. 0-62mph takes 7.9 seconds and flat out it'll do 130mph.
However, despite this, the BlueGT will return a combined 61.4mpg and emit just 107g/km of CO2.
VW has achieved these impressive economy figures by equipping the Polo BlueGT's engine with cylinder deactivation technology. Under light and medium loads, cylinders three and four are switched off, improving fuel efficiency. Bury your foot and the cylinders are seamlessly reactivated.
Polo BlueGT models come with 17-inch alloy wheels, lowered suspension, and the same rear spoiler, front bumper and rear diffuser as the Polo GTi.
On the inside, the BlueGT gets bespoke sports seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, DAB radio, cruise control and Bluetooth.
