Volkswagen has announced the price list for the new Golf GTi Cabriolet.
Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the GTi Cabrio is now available to order in the UK with prices starting from £29,310 for the manual and £30,610 for the DSG version.
This is the first Golf GTi Cabriolet that VW have made since the Mk3 Cabrio went west in 2002, and it certainly looks the part thanks to a honeycomb radiator grille with the traditional red GTi edging, wide side sills, twin chrome rear exhausts, a rear diffuser and front fog lights.
Under the bonnet it's business as usual, with the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine found in the GTi hatchback. The engine develops 207bhp and 206lb-ft of torque which is enough to propel the GTi Cabrio from 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 147mph.
Inside, the Golf is fitted with the traditional tartan 'Jacara' upholstery, with leather seats offered as an optional extra. The steering wheel, handbrake and gear lever are all trimmed in leather with red stitching and the pedals are finished in brushed stainless steel. The electrically operated folding soft-top roof folds away in 9.5 seconds and can be operated at speeds of up to 18mph.
The first Golf GTi Cabriolets will be delivered in July.
