Audi has released a video of the Audi R8 e-tron setting the world record for electric cars at the Nurburgring.

We told you about the R8's amazing lap record last month but, in case you've already forgotten, we'll refresh your memory.

At the hands of pro-racing driver Markus Winkelhock, the R8 e-tron managed to complete a lap of the fearsome German circuit in just 8.09.099 minutes. That's quicker than a Lotus Exige.

The Audi managed this impressive feat thanks to its electric motors which deliver 375bhp and 605lb-ft of torque, propelling the R8 from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 124mph.
