The full pricing and specifications have been announced for the 2012 Land Cruiser V8, ahead of its UK launch on 1st March.
The new Land Cruiser V8, which was unveiled recently at the Brussels Motor Show, is being prepared for its UK launch on 1st March. With a starting price of £62,285, the biggest Land Cruiser comes with a wide range of equipment and off-road driving technology.
For 2012 the Land Cruiser V8 has been given a new front end with a refreshed bumper, new grille and foglights plus new headlamp units featuring high-intensity discharge units and LED daytime running lights. The UK version is fitted with some new side mouldings and black roof rails too, along with chrome detailing and a new design of 20-inch alloy wheels.
At the back of the car the rear headlamp units have been restyled, and the door mirrors now include integrated LED turn indicators. Eight paint colours are being made available, including two new ones - Pearl White and Pure White.
New additions for 2012 include air conditioned and heated front seats, a central cool box and a heated steering wheel. Minor refinements have also been made to the trims and finishes inside the cabin.
Perhaps the biggest changes, however, come in the form of a new range of driver assistance systems and technology designed to improve off-road handling. A crawl control system with five different speed settings aims to make steep climbs and descents easier to handle. The world's first Turn Assist programme can reduce the car's turning radius at low speeds by applying the brakes to a single rear wheel. Multi-terrain Select features 5 different modes, which are used to optimise the vehicle for a range of different off-road conditions. Meanwhle the Multi-terrain Monitor provides a detailed view of the area around the vehicle through a set of four external cameras. This is enhanced by the Tyre Angle Display, which works together with the predicted tyre path guidelines on the Multi-terrain Monitor to help the driver to take the best possible path through the most difficult terrain. Finally, the Variable Flow Control power steering features a unique dedicated off-road setting.
The 4.5-litre V8 turbodiesel engine and six-speed automatic transmission from the previous version of the Land Cruiser V8 are carried over into the 2012 model, but with the addition of diesel particulate filter and new fuel injectors to bring the exhaust emissions in line with new Euro 5 standards. The new Land Cruiser has a maximum power output of 268bhp at 3,600rpm.
