The new Audi A6 Allroad Quattro will be available to order in the UK from February 2012, with the first deliveries going out to customers this spring.
The latest A6 Allroad Quattro is 4.94 metres long, 1.90 metres wide and 1.47 metres tall, making it six centimetres taller than the Avant. It is built using the latest ultra-lightweight construction principles also used for the A6 Saloon and standard Avant, with roughly 20% of the body made from aluminium, meaning that the total weight is 70kg lighter than the previous model. This lightweight construction, combined with other efficiency measures, means that the fuel consumption has been reduced by 20%.
Features unique to the Allroad Quattro include extended side sills, wider flared wings and vertical slats inside the single-frame grille. The exhaust ends in two large, flat tailpipes, and stainless steel guards are fitted at the front and back of the vehicle to protect the underbody. The bumpers, sills and wheel arches are painted in a contrasting colour, unless the optional aluminium exterior package is specified, in which case they can be body-coloured.
The boot storage capacity of the A6 Allroad Quattro is 565-litres with the seats up, or 1,680-litres when the seats are folded down.
Two versions of the 3.0-litre TDI engine are available, delivering 201bhp and 242bhp, with peak torque of 332lb-ft or 428lb-ft. The entry level engine offers fuel consumption of 46.3mpg with CO2 emissions of 159g/km. Each of these engines comes with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission, which can be operated manually using either the gear level or optional steering wheel paddles.
The Quattro permanent four-wheel drive system comes with torque vectoring on the new A6. This enhances traction and handling around corners by braking the wheels on the inside of the bend. An optional sport differential also improves handling further by distributing power in continuously variable proportions between the rear wheels.
Other features of the new A6 Allroad Quattro include electromechanical power steering, and an optional dynamic steering system which adjusts the steering ratio to match the car's speed.
