Toyota have made changes to its seven-seat hybrid MPV Prius+ for 2015, the first major changes to the range since its launch two years ago.
The styling has been bought in line with Toyota’s current look, with a revised front end featuring a new upper grille and more prominent Toyota badge. New LED headlights have added too, with a cylindrical projector for both high and low beam giving the Prius+ a more sharp-eyed appearance than previously. The trapezoid lower grille is already a common feature of the latest Toyota designs, and on the Prius+ it comes with a gloss black metallic finish, and a re-styled front end including new bumper corners, new air intakes, and LED daytime running lights. The rear has a new combination lamp design with red inner lenses, new licence plate trim and an integrated bumper.
UK updates to the body colour range are yet to be confirmed, but in Europe Dark Sherry metallic and Attitude Black mica have been added.
Interior changes include a dark silver metallic finish switches, and chrome-finished door handles air vents. A new steering wheel-controlled 4.2-inch colour information screen shows not only basic information such as clock, trip indicator, cruising range fuel consumption, but also displays the Hybrid System Indicator and Energy monitor. Two 2015 Prius+ models will feature as standard the Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system, with touch-screen control, Bluetooth and reversing camera.
The Prius+ will also now be available with electric seat adjustment, front centre armrest, and Intelligent Park Assist, emergency brake signal, and automatic hill-start assist. Ride and handling has been improved by adjustments made to the suspension damping force, while new sound-proofing material has been added to reduce in-cabin noise.
In addition to these changes, the hybrid powertrain has been re-engineered to make it compliant with the latest Euro 6 emissions regulations.
Full details of UK specifications and prices for the 2015 Prius+ will be announced nearer the sale date.
