The final generation Toyota Corolla is the UK's most reliable family car, new research from Warranty Direct has revealed.
The Toyota Corolla built between 2001 and 2007 are the most dependable cars on the road, with only a 7% chance of breaking down a year, on average.
Unsurprisingly, Japanese cars dominated the top of the list -- the Honda Civic and the Honda Accord ranked highly, both with a 10% chance of breaking down.
The worst ranked cars were the 2002-2012 Renault Espace and the current Mercedes R-Class. Both had a shocking breakdown rate of 74%, with axle and suspension issues being the Espace's major faults, and electrical issues letting the Merc down.
Peugeot isn't known for producing the most reliable cars but its 308 just managed to make it into the top 10 with an average break-down rate of 16%.
The hatchback has since been joined by the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports estate.
