Land Rover has revealed the full technical details of the new Range Rover.

The new Range Rover 4 is a full 420kg lighter than the model it replaces, and is said to be more luxurious on the road and more capable off it.

The engine line-up has been revised, and the big news is the introduction of a new 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine which produces 255bhp and returns 37.8mpg. The base diesel model is actually quicker than the old V8 diesel thanks to the new car's lower kerb weight.

Also on offer is the older 4.4-litre V8 diesel, producing 335bhp (0-62mph in 6.5 seconds) and the top-of-the-range 5.0-litre supercharged petrol.

A hybrid model will also be made available next year, with claimed CO2 emissions of just 169g/km.

You'd be forgiven for mistaking the new Range Rover for its predecessor; however, there have been a number of exterior styling tweaks which not only keep the model looking fresh, but also help to improve its aerodynamic performance.

The new Rangie is also available in your choice of 37 exterior colours, eight alloy wheel designs and three colours for the side vents.

On the inside, there's 118mm more legroom in the back and buyers can even specify an Executive seat pack which includes two mahoosive massage seats. Nice.

The Rangie's on-road manners have also been improved, and Land Rover now claims that the Range Rover is more luxurious than many high-end luxury cars. The car's suspension has been uprated and an anti-body roll system has been added.

The Range Rover is being built at Land Rover's Solihull plant, and customers can order their cars now. Deliveries are expected to start early next year.

Oh yes, and the price. The new Range Rover starts from £71,295.
