Barcelona will host the debut of Mazda’s next generation supermini on 3rd November and it will tour the continent through the remainder of 2014.

Mazda say their latest offering will be clever, comfortable and confident; alliteration aside, it will champion the SKYACTIV technology which Mazda have developed in order to increase the efficiency and output of their engines as well as to improve fuel economy.

The five door hatchback will feature an intuitive interior first featured in the all-new Mazda3 and will include an Active Driving Display which will be the first head up display to be used in this class. MZD Connect technology will offer the type of interactivity demanded by the modern new car buyer and again will be one of the first to do so in its segment.

Under the bonnet will be four engine options, one of which will be the SKYACTIV-D 1.5 litre. This low compression clean diesel will use 3.4 litres of fuel for every 100km driven and emit 89g/km of CO2. Front wheel drive power will be transferred by a 5 or 6 speed manual gearbox or a 6 speed automatic variant.

Mazda have used the KODO design principle to shape the exterior and they will use motor shows across Europe to show off that new image throughout the autumn and winter.
