Last week we told you about the Porsche 911 Black Edition and now it seems Porsche is expanding its Black range to cover the Boxster roadster.

There isn't much on the Boxster Black Edition that isn't painted black. The roll-over bars, rear side air intake grilles and the exhaust tailpipes are all finished in what Porsche would call 'schwarz'. On the inside, the partial-leather seats, steering wheel, dashboard, gear lever and PDK selector are all black and a badge on the glove box lid indicates the Black's limited edition exclusivity.

Porsche haven't just been busy with the paint either; the boffins from Stuttgart have also been fiddling around under the bonnet. The Boxster's mid-mounted flat-six now churns out 320bhp - 10 more than the Boxster S. This means that the Boxster Black Edition will hit 62mph in 5.2 seconds and deliver a combined 28.8mpg. Fitment of the PDK double-clutch gearbox cuts the 0-62mph time down to 5.1 seconds and boosts the fuel economy to 30mpg.

The Boxster Black is fitted with all the luxuries you would expect - cruise control, climate control, sat-nav, MP3 and Bluetooth connectivity, rain-sensing wipers and daytime running lights are all included as standard - and the options list included ceramic brakes, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and sports seats with memory function.

The Boxster S 'Black Edition' goes on sale next month with prices starting from £47,426.
