The first annual Honest John Awards have given the title of ‘Most Surprisingly Economical Car’ to the Jaguar XJ.
During test carried out by Honest John, a consumer advice website, each car covered a distance of 692 miles, and the XJ with its efficient 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine went beyond its official combined cycle fuel economy figure of 39.2mpg with ease. The XJ is capable of driving over 700 miles on a single tank, thanks to its efficient engine and the lightweight chassis which uses a significant proportion of aluminium in its construction.
The XJ, which was launched in 2010, has established itself as one of the best selling cars in its segment. It is priced from £55,515, and a new rear seat comfort option pack introduced in 2011 adds additional luxury in the back with reclining seats, four-way adjustment for the lower back, footrests, winged headrests, and even a massage feature.
Commenting on the 'Most Surprisingly Economical Car' award from Honest John, the Managing Director of Jaguar UK Geoff Cousins said:
"I'm pleased to be able to add this accolade from Honest John to the XJ's credentials. In the XJ we have successfully created an economical car without compromising the quality, luxury and sports car-like drive that our customers want to enjoy in their Jaguar."
