Mercedes say their latest offering is the most powerful, agile and high performing model to date and will come in saloon and estate versions.
The model it will replace was the most popular AMG ever so the German giant has had its work cut out to maintain the high esteem in which the range is held. The new name given to this model took inspiration from the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT.
A hand built 3,982 cc biturbo V8 engine will allow the AMG C 63 to accelerate to 62 mph in 4 seconds in its ‘S Saloon’ variant and even in its standard estate version, will do so in 4.2 seconds. Every option will be limited in top speed to 155 mph.
Dynamic engine mounts will ensure maximum performance by limiting engine vibration during normal driving conditions then stiffening up at higher speeds to assist the electromechanical steering system to provide the agility expected in a high performance car.
Close attention has also been paid to the exterior of the Mercedes AMG C 63 and it retains a beautiful classic appearance. Brand new front bumpers will feature extra deep air dams and the unique AMG grille. ‘V8 biturbo’ badges will decorate the new wider wings and the new rear bumper is redesigned to make way for the quad exhausts.
The new cars are available to order in the UK next month, the Saloon will arrive first, in early 2015 – the Estate follows a few months later.
