A taxi driver has clocked up a million miles in his Ford Mondeo.

Brian Holmes from Preesall, Lancashire, has travelled to the moon and back twice -- not literally, obviously -- in his red Ford Mondeo estate.

The car was bought for £14,000 in 1996 and has since been used to ferry passengers to and from Manchester Airport.

The Mondeo is still on its first engine -- a 1.8-litre turbodiesel -- and Holmes attributes the car's longevity to careful driving and regular servicing.

If you've clocked up an intergalactic mileage in your car, let us know by commenting below. And if your 1.8-litre Mondeo diesel packed up after 110,000 miles, you have our sympathy.
